Willow Weaving Workshops

Come and join Stuart and Emma, the Coddiwomplers, who are experienced willow weavers and teachers, for either a morning or afternoon of weaving.

Morning Session 9:30am – 12:30pm – Willow Flower

You will be taught how to weave willow flowers. This project uses traditional basketry techniques commonly employed in forming the base of a basket, making it an ideal introduction for anyone interested in basket weaving. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created a large willow flower, perfect for hanging on a wall or mounting on a stem to display in your garden.

The course is suitable for beginners and no prior experience is required. Some manual dexterity and hand strength will be needed.

Tea, coffee and cake will be provided.

Afternoon Session – 1:30pm – 4:30pm – Swifts – 1 space left

To celebrate the return of our migratory birds, participants will be taught how to weave willow swifts. This project uses ‘flat weave’, which is a simple versatile weave that is perfect for beginners. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to weave 1 or 2 swifts (or are they swallows?) and some willow leaves.

The course is suitable for beginners, so no prior experience required. However, manual dexterity and hand strength will be needed.

Tea, coffee and cake will be provided.
